I met Joyce at a Highlights Founders' Workshop in March of this year. As soon as I returned, I read her book Blue and thoroughly enjoyed it (see post). Be sure to read it's Sequel Comfort. I plan too :-)
Through online conversations, I knew she was thinking about updating her website and offered to help. I don't code (develop), but I can offer design. We wanted to make it seem like her—choosing symbolic imagery from her work, capitalizing on things in her life that are important, and giving her readers a rich, visual impression. (Visit Joyce's Website)
Take a look and also visit her very active blog, Reading, 'Riting, & Research. You can also sign up for her e-newsletter, Talking Story which she shares with Carol Baldwin, another author buddy.
Also, she's giving away free books, so you better log in!

Great post. Thanks!
Not sure if this is where I'm supposed to comment to try for the free books or not, but here goes. It is a great site. It definitely looks like the site of a historical fiction writer. I especially enjoy the picures posted in the right margin. It gives us a good picture of who Joyce is and the places she has visited during the research for her books. Great site!
I love Joyce's new website! So pretty! Also, pic books with trucks on the cover go out all the time at my library! Woo hoo!
Thanks. Deena. I hope those books that are getting checked out are miiiinne!!
You did a lovely job helping Joyce capture her essence at her website. Well done, both of you!
Hi Nathan,

You did a great job with Joyce's website. It's gorgeous!
I am a fan of Joyce Moyer Hostetter's books and think that the new website is excellent!
Joyce's new site is terrific! It's easy to navigate, the text is easy to read, and the scrapbook margins are gorgeous (and a lot of fun). It's a beautiful and very fitting lead-in to the books themselves.
Great site for Joyce, Nathan! I like the scrapbook look and how the wisteria adds depth. Very easy to navigate and a great combination of classy and fun. Black background is also sharp!
I find Joyce's website visually appealing. I love the turquoise/charcoal color combination which compliment her book covers as well. Lovely job.
Congratulations Nathan, on the book! Someday when I'm an author, I'll get in touch about the website...
